Through Autumn's Lens offers relaxed, connection-focused family photography in Sonoma County, Marin County, Napa County and throughout the surrounding North Bay. Family sessions can take place in your home for a lifestyle session or at one of the many beautiful outdoor locations throughout Napa, San Francisco, Sonoma and Marin Counties.
My approach is less about making everyone sit perfectly still and smile at the camera, and more about creating an experience where your family members' personalities can come through naturally. I photograph families with babies, children, teenagers, grandparents, and pets, and I especially love documenting the ways families change and grow together over the years.

We hired Autumn for a family photo session: myself, my husband, our 2 1/2 year ball of fire child, and my parents. She was amazing! Autumn spent two hours with us, taking photos and following the lead of our very opinionated and high energy daughter. She was super patient with our daughter and very fun for all of us to interact with.
A couple of weeks after the shoot, she personally delivered the proofs to us and they are beautiful! I don't know how she managed it, because my daughter never seemed to hold still for more than 10 seconds, but there are some amazing and very sweet shots of all of us together. This was the first time we used a professional photographer for family shots, but it won't be the last -- and we will definitely be working with Autumn again!

What a Family Photography Session With Me Is Like
When I have the honor of photographing one of my clients families, whether in their home as a home lifestyle session, or at one of the many beautiful locations in Napa, San Francisco, Sonoma and Marin Counties I love my homework! If you are a new client, I will ask for the names and ages of the young people and pets I will be meeting during our photo session. I like to learn the names of each person so that I can strengthen our connection of trust. As I build this connection during our session with silly jokes and thoughtful questions , I always notice a shift in how genuine and relaxed the smiles are in the photos we create together. While I like to save a 45 minute session for our photography, that time will be filled with breaks, walking, s’mores at your backyard fire, chatter as we get to know each other and as we build that connection of trust. So many of my clients have chosen me to document the evolution of their family units over the years… Which is of course my favorite positive review of my work. And I am always eager to meet new families - and new puppies - several clients have brought new furry family members to a photo session and it has always been lots of fun!
Planning Your Family Photo Session
When you book a family photo session with me, we will communicate around location, wardrobe, names, and ages of the members of your family unit. I will also reiterate through our process that my main goal is a relaxed and joyful session. Punctuality should never be a source of stress! I would rather wait until you and your family arrive in a calm and connected way, than cause you any anxiety. My goal is to capture photos of your family unit and it’s connection… To tell the story of this unique time in your lives.

Autumn is the best ever! Not only were the pictures from our family shoot phenomenal, we had such a blast hanging out with Autumn. She's so fun, warm, funny and she put us all at ease, which made for fantastic photos. She also did some really phenomenal photoshop work on a few photos for us.
